Head of Events

Queen Mary Formula Student is looking for a motivated person to organise our series of events this season.

We are looking for a highly organised individual who is enthusiastic about organising successful events with a range of different focuses. From smaller events like watching F1 together to help organise an incredibly complicated trip for 25 people + race car and pit garage to compete at Silverstone next July for 5 days!


Events you might plan

  • Small socials

  • Hail Mary etc

  • Larger trips to Motorsport races

  • Outside lecture program

  • Team training sessions

  • Car testing sessions

  • Formula Student Silverstone 


Essential skills

  • Highly organised

  • Ability to plan and prioritise, including university workload

  • MS office proficiency


Desirable skills

  • UK Driving Licence

  • Prior experience 

  • Interest in Motor Sport



  • Learn MS Project and project planning

  • Write risk assessments

  • Learn to budget

  • Improve decision making and confidence

  • SU training in semester 2


Role Description

You will be working closely with the Team Principal, Head of Operations and Head of Associates to help organise all of Queen Mary Formula Student’s events throughout the year. You will be supported by and report directly to the Head of Operations. You will need to be free for team meetings on Wednesday afternoons and able to plan and come to Silverstone in July 2020.

Be aware this is after term ends.


About QMFS

QMFS is a highly motivated team of students building a racing car for the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Formula Student competition. This competition attracts over a hundred teams from around the world to compete at Silverstone in July 2020. The project involves both designing and building a race car alongside preparing a business case and all of the marketing and operations that are entailed in running a racing team. Formula student is seen as a kitemark of quality and is integral for anyone who intends to work in motorsport in the future.
