QMFS is looking for a committed individual to help support the next generation of Formula Student Engineers.
New for this year QMFS has introduced the Associate team. This team allows QMFS to accept more potential candidates to experience Formula Student and help them develop into senior team members in future years. There are many rewards for participating in the project such as learning CAD skills and chances to get hands on with building the car. However, Formula Student can take a large amount of a students time and organising uni workload around the society can become a challenge. The associate team gives the opportunity for those interested to dip their toes in the water and experience the project without the full workload.

You will be supporting the Head of Associates in developing the next generation of QMFS members. You will need to pay attention to their needs and feedback while also balancing the needs of the project (building the car for Silverstone). You will be required to attend Associate team meetings and help organise learning sessions for those associates. Should you wish, this role can also include being the societies Welfare Officer. This is a position the SU would like all societies to have and involves supporting the welfare of all team members, Senior and Associate. The Deputy of the Associate team will work closely with the head to help find promising associates to join the senior team as vacancies come up.
QMFS is a highly motivated team of students building a racing car for the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Formula Student competition. This competition attracts over a hundred teams from around the world to compete at Silverstone in July 2020. The project involves both designing and building a race car alongside preparing a business case and all of the marketing and operations that are entailed in running a racing team. Formula student is seen as a kitemark of quality and is integral for anyone who intends to work in motorsport in the future.
